Award winning photographer Tan Choon Lai was born in 1969. He started his photography journey in 1992 and over the years, he has won many awards in local and international photography competitions.

Here is an interview in finding out more about a photographer filled with passion for photography andthe beliefs in continuous learning.

Born in 1947 in China, he migrated toSingapore in 1957. Mr Chua has won many awards in international awards and regularly being appointed to the judging panel of many international photography competitions. Heis also the photography mentor of Steven Yee. Mr Chua is well known for his bath relief works in the old firm days. Today, he has switched to digital photography. He is also a Fellow of PhotoVivo Singapore (FPVS).

Kwek Leng Joo is a distinguished name many associate with in the business world. Besides being the Managing Director of leading property developer – City Developments Limited, Mr Kwek also serves the community through various appointments in civic organisations. Beyond business, he is a keen photographer and has held several photography exhibitions and published several photographic books.

Mr Lim Seng Tiong is a name known to many especially among the people in the Arts circle in Singapore. A former Straits Time chief photographer, he is also a popular photography coach teaching in many organisations. He is also actively involved in several photography book projects as well as conducting photography seminars to pass on his experience to the younger generation.

Mr Lee Tiah Khee has come a long way and worked hard to achieve what he has today. He is the current chief photographer of Lianhe Zaobao, the most read Chinese language daily newspaper in Singapore. A practical and down to earth person, he has a lot of passion for photography (both in work and passion). His favourite topic is bird photography and his patience has paid off with stunning images of birds in action.

Annie Hunton Bryant is a  professional photographer from New York City. Following in the footsteps of such renowned photographers as Richard Avedon, she graduated from Parsons School of Design in Manhattan with a degree in Fine Art Photography. Anne’s award-winning photography has been exhibited in galleries ranging from Manhattan’s art district, Chelsea, to the Mississippi Museum of Art.

Barry is currently the President of The Royal Photographic Society which is the oldest and one of the most prestigious photographic societies in the world. He is also the immediate past Chairman of the Distinctions Advisory Board which is responsible for advising Council on policy and procedures. A member of Council since 1999, he is also the immediate past Chairman of the Society’s Digital Imaging Group. More about The Royal Photographic Society can be found on www.rps.org.

Fiona’s  client list in children’s advertising, fashion, editorial and portraiture spans all over Europe. She gained her BIPP Fellowship in 1988 and was the first woman to win the Peter Grugeon award for the best fellowship panel of that year. She went on to serve on the BIPP Distinctions and Annual Exhibition Panels. In 1992 she became an FRPS and is still a member of the Professional and Applied Distinctions Panel. 1995 saw her achieving the FMPA and she later toured the U.K.

In 2006, Margaret started her first dive with a compact camera and instantaneously fell in love with photographing the underwater world. She made more trips to dive sites mainly in North Sulawesi, Sipadan, Bali and Maldives. She bought her first DSLR camera, Nikon D80 together with a Sea & Sea Housing and strobes together with other accessories. From then on, there was no turning back as she got hooked on underwater photography.

Steven Yee has, through his recent achievements, established himself as one of Singapore’s most prolific and versatile new-generation photographers who has great competency in digital technology. He is the founder of PhotoVivo.com and Knowledge Bowl. These works have garnered for this artist numerous awards and honours, doing both his art and his country proud.

Edward Cheong has been involved in photography for many years. A freelance photographer specialising in wedding and event, he is also a photography instructor in Knowledge Bowl. He likes to travel and his work have garnered him numerous awards and honours. He received distinction titles like ARPS, APSS and ASAFRAPC.
